With the winter season quickly coming to an end, it would be a shame to overlook the immense amount of incredible success sports have seen this season. From football to basketball, this article is a compilation of some of the most notable plays made, and biggest events that are coming up soon. Football: The NFL season ended on Sunday, February 12th, when the annual Super Bowl took place. At State Farm Stadium, in Glendale, Arizona, the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 38-35, led by their MVP, Patrick Mahomes. The game had many on the edge of their seats, especially when the Chiefs were trailing behind a whopping ten points once the refs blew the whistle for halftime. This all changed in the second half when Patrick Mahomes scored three touchdowns in the second half. One of these touchdowns occurred when Mahomes struggled for 26th yards with seconds ticking away on the clock, nearing the end of the game. But, he was able to pull it off and score the game-winning goal. The chiefs celebrated their win shortly after their game by parading through their hometown, Kansas City. This parade marks their second one in four years. Hours before the parade even began, fans flooded the streets creating what many called a, “sea of red.” Basketball: With March madness around the corner, the stakes have never been higher in the basketball world. With just minutes remaining, Messi broke the tie and scored another goal, and it seemed to the fans like Argentina once again had sealed their victory. This was until Mbappé completed a hat trick, scoring a third goal with a late penalty. After this, there was a long, agonizing penalty shootout in which Argentina came out on top. Hockey: This is the biggest time of year for hockey, with the soon to be determined Stanley Cup playoffs date, hockey teams around the nation have been playing their absolute best to land in a good position for the soon to come tournament.
