Holiday Movies

By: Farah Sadick, Natalia Jamiolkowski

As the weather starts getting colder and the days feel shorter, we start looking forward to cozying up and watching some of our favorite movies during the most wonderful time of the year. Not sure which holiday movies to watch this season? Do not fear, we have a list of some of the best holiday movies for cozying up and getting into the holiday spirit! Here is a list of some of our favorite holiday movies to watch this season: Elf: Everyone knows the movie Elf! Elf is a magical Christmas tale that's fun to watch with the whole family. It follows Buddy, who was accidentally transported to the North Pole as a toddler and raised among Santa's elves. However, he is unable to shake the feeling that he just doesn't fit in. Elf follows Buddy as he travels to New York in search of his biological father, while trying to build a relationship with him. How the Grinch Stole Christmas: How the Grinch Stole Christmas is one of Dr. Seuss’s classics. In the outskirts of Whoville, the Grinch has been living in Mount Crumpit with his only friend and pet dog, Max. His hatred for Christmas started after he was bullied by his school peers. The Grinch devises a plot to ruin Christmas by dressing up as Santa in retaliation for being ridiculed and for the citizens' endless greed for gifts. The Polar Express: Late one Christmas Eve, a young boy is lying awake waiting for the sound of sleigh bells ringing from Santa's sleigh. Five minutes to midnight his room begins to shake, and the boy jumps from his bed, sees a train and rushes out the front door. He hops on the train with other boys and girls going to the North Pole. The Polar Express follows the young boy’s journey to the North Pole. The Santa Clause: This 90s movie is a light-hearted, family-friendly comedy. When the real Santa Claus falls off the roof, Tim Allen becomes St. Nick himself! While the "old" Santa Claus is in the hospital, the "new" Claus travels around the world and delivers gifts to all of the children. Home Alone: Home Alone follows Eight-year-old Kevin McCallister. He is accidentally left behind when his family takes off for a vacation in Paris, France. Once he realizes they';ve left him home by himself, Kevin learns that he must fend for himself. He realizes he has to protect his house against the burglars, who are planning to rob every house in Kevin's neighborhood. Noelle: Noelle is a heart warming and suspenseful story of Kris Kringle’s daughter. She wants to do something just like her brother Nick, who would take over as Santa. Nick is under a lot of pressure. Noelle suggests that he takes a vacation. But when he doesn’t return, Noelle must either find her brother or step in. Disney’s A Christmas Carol: Don’t think we could ever forget this Christmas classic, A Christmas Carol! The perfect movie to keep on while wrapping presents or if you’re in the mood for a classic Christmas story. It’s the classic story of Scrooge when he encounters the ghost of his old business partner, who warns him that three spirits will visit him throughout the night. The ghosts take Scrooge on a flashback of his past, present and future in hope to change his attitude and bitterness. With these movies, we hope that you guys can get into the Christmas spirit and cozy up with a nice, warm cup of hot chocolate! So grab your presents, wrapping paper, tape, scissors, remote, blanket and hot chocolate. Get ready to be festive with us!
