The long-awaited spring break is finally here! After counting down your fingers for the past couple of days, you might be a little behind in thinking about what to do. Of course, many may turn to the classic, “Stay up late and Sleep in”, which is always a good idea. But if you’re having some trouble deciding what you want to do for an epic, fun-filled week, I’m here to bring you the top 5 things to do for this spring break!
1. Watch a Movie Marathon with friends:
After working hard for the past few weeks, it’s time to treat yourself to some popcorn, snacks, and a few hours of movie-watching. According to WikiHow, a true movie marathon is 26.2 hours long, just like how a traditional marathon is 26.2 miles long. The best way to begin a movie marathon is to have a plan. First, prepare the movies that you want to watch. Some suggestions include the Lord of the Rings, the Harry Potter series, Jurassic Park, and The Hobbit. Of course, you can choose anything you want, the point is to have at least five to six movies if you want the whole experience. Next, plan some snacks and beverages to eat while enjoying the movies. Finally, invite your guests and have fun!
2. Go camping:
April is here, and with it comes spring! As William Shakespeare says “April hath put a spirit of youth in everything” and what brings more “spirit of youth” than camping and being more in tune with nature? It’s time to spend time with family and friends in the woods, barbecuing, and breathing the fresh air! Although it may be a little rainy since it is that time of year, don’t let a little drizzle stop you from enjoying a nice trip into the wild. Of course, if you do follow this suggestion, make sure to remain safe and practice good habits. Here is a quick rundown of things you can do to remain safe while camping: bring a first aid kit, store your trash and food securely, drink plenty of water, be aware of animals, and make sure you have a map and compass! Stay safe!
3. Start a new book series:
For some people, the most enjoyable break is a simple, cozy one in the comfort of their own home. The best way to spend a nice day in your covers is to start a new book series! School has taken a chunk of our time, and we finally get a week to cool down. This is the perfect time to take a trip to your local library and pick up that book you always wanted to read...and maybe the rest of the series while you’re at it. From romance novels to comic books, these stories are sure to keep you up all night. The best part is, you don’t have to worry about waking up early for school the next day!
4. Visit an amusement:
Have your friends and people you know gone on the trip to Disney just recently? Although it can be sad that you're not on the airplane with them, it shouldn’t stop you from having just as much fun as they’re having. There are plenty of closer amusement parks. There’s Six Flags in New Jersey, Adventure Land in East Farmingdale, LegoLand in Goshen, and Coney Island in Brooklyn. Of course, if you’re not an amusement park type of person, there are always zoos, aquariums, and museums to visit close by. Not only are these places close, but the tickets are also cost-efficient without the extra dollars on plane tickets!
5. Go shopping:
Finally, the best way to spend your break is to go shopping! What's better than spending the day at the mall with all your friends, hitting up game shops and clothing stores? Even if you don’t intend on spending too much, window shopping can be just as fun! Walking through different outlets, picking up small snacks along the way while catching up with friends. It’s a great way to keep yourself busy, full, and stress-free as you enjoy the break without the worry of school interfering!
These are just some ways to enjoy this spring break, the possibilities are endless! How are you planning to spend it?
