On April 17th, 2024, H. Frank Carey High School had their junior banquet! Juniors had been looking forward to this day for months, as many of them had purchased their outfits, made plans with friends, and counted down the days until this momentous occasion. This year, the banquet was at the New Hyde Park Inn! The event was set to take place between 6pm and 10pm.

As soon as the juniors arrived, many were greeted by their favorite teachers. Teachers from all departments gathered together in order to make sure everyone was safe and had everything they needed. The inn was beautifully decorated to fit the theme, “New York!” Juniors arrived at around 5:50 to 6:00, and gathered with their friends to sit at one of the available tables. Many also had plans to do something before prom, where they would be with friends to get ready, take pictures, or even have a light snack. We all needed to be “Instagram” ready.

At six PM, everyone went on line for the photo booth, where an LED lit the photos for a beautiful glow behind a “glitter” style backdrop. There were also props available for the pictures that matched the theme. Many of these included hats for the Statue of Liberty, signs that said quotes about the city, and more!

Next, the dance floor finally opened up!! Although everyone was ready for the food after being hungry for hours in anticipation of the banquet, many chose to get the party started by singing a few of their favorite songs. The music blasted, and many invited teachers they are close with to dance and sing with them!! It was fun to break the glass and get some action on the floor.

After this, there were numerous food choices for everyone who was interested. We had fries and chicken tenders, steak, penne alla vodka, mashed potatoes, bread, and more! Groups of friends gathered together to talk about the day and how excited they were for more dancing! In the blink of an eye, everyone was back on the dance floor, and if they weren’t, then they were eating the delicious ice cream choices.

The night ended with another hour and a half of dancing to everyone’s favorite party tunes. Whether it was the classic “Baby” by Justin Bieber or “Cotton-eyed Joe,” there was something for everyone to have their best time! We couldn’t have asked for a better way to celebrate this momentous occasion.
