Senior week is a Carey tradition that students look forward to throughout their entire
Carey career. Senior week is a school week where each day has a specific theme. All the seniors dress up to match the theme, and on Friday, they get to teach with their favorite teacher for a day!
The first day of Senior Week started with Decade Day! Students got to follow treads from
their favorite decade and dress up for the day! Some friend groups would do matching looks, and others had a variety within the group, but everyone had fun with their outfits. While many decades were represented, the main decades shown were the 20s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and 2000s.
The second day of Senior Week was Character Day. During this day, students had free
reign to choose whatever character and costume they wanted. Once again, this was a great
opportunity for students to match with their friends and become a whole cast from a show or
movie. However, unlike Monday, this day had many more group outfits. Some examples of
character groups that roamed the halls that day are the Fairies from Pixie Hollow, the Minions and Gru, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Mario and Luigi, Alvin and the Chipmunks, and many many more.
We have reached the middle of the week! On Wednesday, it was Country Side versus
Country Club Day! This was the most unique day out of the whole week. The student
government had worked hard to pick fun and different themes for the entire week, but they
definitely created a new one that will be used by younger grades in the future with this one. On this day, students had the choice to dress as someone who worked on a farm, kind of like a cowboy, or as someone who goes to country clubs in their free time. The amount of flannel
shirts, tennis skirts, jeans, and polos that were walking around the school that day was
astronomical! The stark difference between the themes made it so entertaining to see the senior classes have such a divide in the attire for the day.
Thursday’s theme was Senior Citizen Day! This is a classic theme for Senior Week that
almost every senior class uses when planning their senior week. During this day, the Class of
2023 dressed in stereotypical elderly clothes. There were robes, mumus, canes, silk pajamas, and sweater vests walking throughout the halls. This was definitely the most comfortable day and arguably the most entertaining to watch. Seniors especially got creative with their pictures on this day, taking pictures hunching over with a cane or squinting at a phone. This was definitely an amazing end to the themed days of the week.
Friday! Everyone’s favorite day of the week, especially for the Class of 2023 during
Senior Week. Throughout the seniors' entire Carey careers, whenever they had a new teacher, they would always be thinking of which teacher they were going to choose for this day; it was Student-Teacher Day! The senior class each picked their favorite teachers to teach with for the day. The students and teachers matched and the seniors took over the classes for the day, teaching the younger classmen a variety of fun and educational lessons. Not only is this day a lot of fun for the seniors, but for the underclassmen as well.
The senior class got to share their school spirit one last time during the day within this
week. The Carey pride was flowing throughout the halls this week and all the seniors will look
back on these days favorably, holding fond memories. We can not wait to see what themes the Class of 2024 is going to pick as their Senior Week themes!
