Over the past few years, Carey has hired many new teachers. The language department
has received two new teachers just this year. Their names are Mrs.Rosa Brannan and Mrs.
Mercedes Salmeron.
The first new teacher is Ms.Rosa Brannan. She is a new Spanish teacher here at Carey. She teaches Spanish 1A and 1B to the seventh and eighth grade. Having teached in the Jericho School District and the Rocky Point School District for a combined five years, she welcomes the change working at Carey has presented her with. She is looking forward to getting to know the students and making connections with other teachers and faculty. By the end of the 2022-2023 school year, she hopes to accomplish this goal and become more integrated into the school. So far, she has noticed that the students here are creative, enthusiastic, and caring. When she was younger, she and her family had a tiny pet monkey that was the size of an iPhone! While having been able to hold a monkey throughout her childhood, she still wishes that she could hold a baby panda and would love to have a dog as a pet. Some sports she enjoys watching are volleyball, soccer, and tennis, maybe she will make it to a game to watch our Seahawks play. Ms.Brannan also loves to dance. A quote she lives her life by is “If you want happiness for a lifetime, help others.”
The next new teacher is Ms.Mercedes Salmeron. She is a new Spanish teacher at Carey as well. She teaches the majority middle school Spanish, but does have one highschool class. In her ten years of teaching, she has taught many levels of Spanish, including Spanish 3, Spanish 5, and A.P. Spanish. Her favorite thing about Carey is the welcoming environment the students and facility have created for her. She is excited to build new relationships and by the end of the year, she wants all of her eighth graders to pass the FLACS B exam. Ms. Salmeron keeps herself very busy, therefore she does not have much time to watch any sports or TV shows, but when she doesn, she likes to watch new movies. Even though she does not have much time, she has a love for dancing, especially the salsa. She states that her students would be surprised to know that she was shy when she was a student. When she was a student, she had two dogs but currently she has no pets. She lives her life by the quote “Love the life you live; live the life you love.”
