About the
CLIPPER

There are few units as powerful as that of the word — few entities as raw, commanding, and visceral. The Carey Clipper is the consequence of our school’s recognition of this reality and our efforts to employ the cores of language to strengthen the bonds that define our relations to our community and high school experience. A clipper, by nautical definition, is a boat designed for speed and a vessel intended for the sharing of goods. Our organization correspondingly upholds these ideals through our endeavoring to provide relevant news in a timely manner to the students and staff of H. Frank Carey High School. It is our mission to truthfully present information germane to our school, neighborhood, state, country, and world. All the while, we try to exhibit varying perspectives, explore unconventional topics, and above all else, cultivate smiles. In a world that increasingly sees a diminishment of humanistic value, I take great pride in distinguishing what the Carey Clipper has stood for, continues to stand for, and will hopefully endure to stand for in the far future. We write to honor the power of the word. We write to preserve our humanity.
